Pattern Energy Begins Construction of $500 Million Windfarm in California

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Pattern Energy Group LP, formally Babcock & Brown Wind Partners (San Francisco, California) and a subsidiary of Riverstone Holdings LLC (New York, New York), has begun construction on the estimated $500 million, 101-megawatt (MW) Hatchet Ridge Windfarm Project, near the town of Burney, in Shasta County, California.

Construction on the project began earlier this month, and it is scheduled to be completed and ready for commercial operation by the spring of 2010. The project will consist of constructing 44 Siemens Power Generation SWT 2.3-MW model wind turbine generators that will be arranged on Hatchet Mountain. Once operational the power generated by the facility will be sold to Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation (NYSE:PCG) (San Francisco, California), under a 15-year power purchasing agreement.

Renewable Energy Systems Americas Incorporated (Broomfield, Colorado) will provide the turnkey engineering, procurement and construction services throughout the construction of the project.
