Penn Aluminum to Open Texas Extrusion Plant After First of the Year

Penn Aluminum International Incorporated (Murphysboro, Illinois), a member of the Marmon Group Incorporated (Chicago, Illinois), has purchased the former Plastech Engineering Products Incorporated's (Dearborn, Michigan) plant, located at 5602 East Harrison Street in Harlingen, Texas. Penn Aluminum is expanding the building and installing aluminum extrusion equipment, with plans to be up and operating in January 2005. In August 2001, Industrialinfo.com reported, as part of its North American Industrial Database (Click on link below for more details), that Penn Aluminum was evaluating options to acquire an existing plant or possibly construct a new plant. Those initial plans eventually led Penn Aluminum to locate in Harlingen. The Harlingen plant will produce custom aluminum extrusions and tubing.

Penn Aluminum operates a 270,000 square foot facility in Murphysboro, Illinois, where it has three extrusion presses, a tube mill, with a wide range of drawing and cutting capabilities, and a fabrication department.
