Red River Biodiesel Shooting for Early May Start-up of Texas Biodiesel Plant

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Privately owned Red River Biodiesel LLC (New Boston, Texas), managed and operated by Renewable Resources Group Inc. (Houston, Texas), is going through the plant-commissioning process and is shooting for an early May 2008 start-up of its new biodiesel plant in New Boston, Texas. Currently, raw material feedstock is in storage, and the company expects to soon produce small batches of biodiesel and is expected to be at 80% capacity by the end of the month.

Construction began on the 15,000-square-foot plant in October 2007 under the direction of general contractor Plant Process Equipment Incorporated (League City, Texas). The plant will have multi-feedstock capabilities, allowing the company to make ASTM biodiesel from any single seed oil or animal fat or any combination of these ingredients. The process also significantly minimizes waste effluent from manufacture and recycles raw materials and byproducts, such as methanol, glycerin and water to achieve cost reductions.

The estimated $15 million plant will have the capacity of producing 15 million gallons per year of biodiesel. The plant is located on a 22-acre site in the Red River Commerce Park in New Boston in Bowie County.

There are now 10 stand-alone biodiesel plants operating in the Lone Star State producing more than 175 million gallons per year of the renewable fuel.
