Reichhold Hires Engineer for Expansion in Illinois, Announces Plant Closure in Pennsylvania

Reichhold Incorporated (Durham, North Carolina), a subsidiary of Dainippon Ink and Chemicals, Incorporated (Japan), has begun construction for an estimated $16 million expansion of their polyester resins plant located in Morris, Illinois (Plant 1009406). Reichhold announced this expansion only a few months ago and is planning for the project to be complete and in full operation by June of next year.

Superior Engineering LLC (Hammond, Indiana) was selected as the engineer for this expansion, which is ultimately aimed at increasing the plants production capacity by approximately 35% through the installation of a new bulk solids handling system, new mixing technology and the newest generation of process controls. The Morris plant produces unsaturated polyester resins used in the production of fiberglass composites and similar materials.

Just last week, Reichhold announced plans to close its Bridgeville, Pennsylvania plant (Plant 1510852) and transition the products produced there to other domestic locations starting in early 2004. The final date of operation for the Bridgeville plant has not been determined but operations are expected to cease at the site by the fourth quarter of 2004.
