Renewable Energy Technologies to Build Fuel Ethanol Plant in Holland, Michigan

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Renewable Energy Technologies LLC (RET) (South Haven, Michigan) is planning the first fuel ethanol plant for Holland, Michigan.

In a cost savings move, RET decided to retrofit an existing 95,000-square-foot building that had been used as a factory to accommodate its ethanol plant. The $3 million investment will divert sugar and alcohol waste from the landfills and convert it to 2.2 million gallons of fuel ethanol annually. RET is hoping to begin construction in three to six months, and it will take about six months to complete.

The planed plant will be on East 40th Street near the railroad tracks in Holland, approximately 30 miles southeast of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Currently, there are five operational fuel ethanol plants in Michigan, producing a combined annual output of nearly 270 million gallons; another is under construction, and two more are in the planning stages.
