Rentech to Build Biomass Jet Fuel Production Plant in White River, Ontario

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Rentech Incorporated (AMEX:RTK) (Los Angeles, California) has been selected by the Ontario government to construct a renewable jet fuel biomass production plant in the township of White River, Ontario.

The project is a $500 million investment for Rentech's Renewable Energy Center project. However, the Canadian government's NextGen Biofuels Fund, which is part of its Sustainable Development Technology Canada program, will supply up to $200 million in project funding. The production facility will convert up to 1.3 million tons of Crown waste wood fiber per year into about 23 million gallons annually of Rentech's proprietary Renjet fuel, a certified low-carbon jet fuel. The plant also will produce about 13 million gallons of naphtha. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-2012, and operations are expected to begin three years later.

The campus will be on Highway 17 in White River, Ontario, approximately 60 miles east of Marathon, Ontario.
