Ryobi to Introduce Japan's First Ultra-Large Aluminum Die Casting Machine for Auto Parts

Reports related to this article:

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Ryobi Limited (Fuchu, Hiroshima) plans to construct Japan's first ultra-large (6,000-ton class) aluminum die casting machine to produce auto parts at its Kikugawa site.

Ryobi plans to provide prototyping services (design, prototype molds and prototypes) for large structural auto parts via "gigacasting" for new vehicle models.

According to Nikkei Asia, gigacast technology can reduce the manufacturing cost of a car body by 20% by die casting one large aluminum component designed to replace dozens of steel parts.

Project construction is planned to kick off in second-quarter 2024, with completion in first-quarter 2025. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Metals & Minerals Project Database can click here for the project report and click here for the plant profile.
