Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) (Minneapolis, Minnesota) plans to build a large refrigerated food distribution center in Denton, Texas. Targets plans call for a $100 million investment to acquire a 50-acre site near Airport Road and Corbin Road and to build a 450,000-square-foot facility standing 125 feet tall. The new facility will be a state-of-the-art refrigerated distribution center and will include freezer, cooler, and office space.

Target anticipates closing on the land before the end of the year and to proceed with the construction phase in the first quarter of 2011. The new distribution facility is slated to be fully operational in the first half of 2012.

Target plans to utilize local and regional resources to develop and complete the construction phase of the project.

In 2009, Target opened a new 450,000-square-foot distribution center in Cedar Falls, Iowa for perishable foods distribution. The Cedar Falls facility was built by Ryan Companies (Minneapolis, Minnesota).
