Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Unit 1 at Sequoyah Nuclear Power Station, which is located in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, was taken offline due to an electrically induced turbine trip. The station is owned by Tennessee Valley Authority (NYSE:TVC) (Knoxville, Tennessee).
The automatic outage occurred around 2 p.m. on Friday following a turbine trip on the main generator lockout. The cause of the incident is under investigation. The 1,152-megawatt (MW) Unit 1 is currently in mode 3, operating at 35% power, and is expected to return to full power on Tuesday.
Unit 2, which has a capacity of 1,130 MW, remains unaffected by the shutdown and continues to operate at full power.
