WinCo Foods Completes Grocery Distribution Center in Boise, Idaho

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Employee-owned discount grocery chain WinCo Foods LLC (Boise, Idaho) has completed construction of a grocery distribution center in southeast Boise, off Interstate 84. The center is expected to create up to 200 jobs when it becomes fully operational.

Total project cost is estimated at $50 million and involved the construction of a state-of-the-art facility of more than 750,000 square feet, including a 246,000-square-foot refrigerated building, a 330,000-square-foot dry store, and 107 truck docks. WinCo selected A. Epstein and Sons International Incorporated (Chicago, Illinois) to provide design-build services for the project. Construction began last fall and was completed early this month.

In addition to this facility, the company has two other distribution centers in Woodburn, Oregon, and Modesto, California. According to company officials, the Boise center will serve Idaho and eastern Washington stores, will provide faster service and will save money on fuel.

WinCo Foods LLC operates a chain of supermarkets and has stores in Washington, California, Idaho, Nevada and Oregon. The company offers groceries, meat and produce, bakery, bulk foods, and deli products.
