Poland Tries to Save Biggest Coal Producer

GALWAY, IRELAND--January 13, 2015 --Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland) The Polish government has endorsed a radical restructuring and rescue plan to save the largest coal producer in the European Union (E.U.) from bankruptcy.

At the troubled Kompania Weglowa S.A. (Katowice, Poland), it plans to cut jobs, shut down four mines and allow the country's state-owned energy companies to fund the continued operation of the remaining 10 mines.
