New York Sees Record Solar, Wind Generation as Another Offshore Windfarm Gains Approval
March 28, 2024--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The grid operator for New York state, New York Independent System Operator (NYISO), reported that the state obtained record hourly levels of wind and solar generation on separate days earlier this month. Renewable energy only seems set to increase its share in New York's power mix as new facilities come online to help meet the state's goal of having net-zero emissions by 2040. A substantial leap in New York's renewable energy is now expected in a couple of years with this week's federal approval of the Sunrise offshore windfarm, which will send power to New York's grid.
