Wildfires, Strikes Rattle Canada

Attachment: CanadianMiningWildfires 0723

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--As wildfires continue to tear across northern Canada, mining firms across the country are getting a better idea of how their operations could be affected in the longer term. But Canada's miners faced an additional challenge earlier this month, when western ports were shut down amid strikes that since have ended.

Industrial Info is tracking more than US$240 billion worth of mining projects across Canada. Artemis Gold Incorporated temporarily reduced the number of non-essential staff and contractors earlier this month at one of its facilities, while Hecla Mining Company (NYSE:HL) acknowledged gold production had decreased "primarily due to wildfire-related road closures." Patriot Battery Metals Incorporated and Nutrien Limited (NYSE:NTR) also have been affected.
