Labor Issues Strike at General Motors Yet Again
Labor Issues Strike at General Motors Yet Again
SUGAR LAND--April 25, 2008--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Last week, the United Auto Workers group at General Motors Corporation's (NYSE:GM) (Detroit, Michigan) Lansing Delta Township assembly plant in Michigan walked off the job as a result of stalled negotiations on issues like overtime and work rules. Couple the Lansing strike with four additional strikes in Ohio, Michigan and Kansas, along with the 30 plants that have already curtailed production as a result of the two-month-old strike at American Axle & Manufacturing Incorporated (NYSE: AXL) (Detroit), and you have a major problem for the former No. 1 automaker. GM may not have enough influence to force American Axle to get a deal done, and continues to lose market share to Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America (NYSE:TM) (Torrance, California).
