Industrial Project Spending in Florida Set for $8 Billion in 2008

Sugar Land--June 27, 2008--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In Florida, industrial firms are evaluating more than $8.7 billion worth of capital and maintenance spending projects scheduled to begin construction in 2008. Of that total, 17 projects totaling $2 billion have been identified as already having started construction. Construction began early this year for a $600 million grassroot natural gas-fired power plant in West Palm Beach, Florida, for Florida Power and Light, a subsidiary of FPL Group (NYSE:FPL) (North Palm Beach, Florida). An additional $6 billion worth of construction that started prior to 2008 is currently underway in the state. One of the projects that falls under this category is the Orlando-Tampa High Speed Rail project, which began construction in early 2007.
