India's BHEL Secures $520 Million Contract for its First Syrian Power Project

BANGALORE, INDIA--July 7, 2008--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Power engineering major Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) (BOM:500103) (New Delhi, India) has won a $520 million turnkey contract to build a 400-megawatt (MW) power facility at the Tishreen thermal power plant extension in Damascus, Syria. The contract is the first order secured by BHEL to set up a large steam turbine power facility with units of 200 MW overseas.
