SUGAR LAND--February 23, 2009--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Vectren Corporation (NYSE:VVC) (Evansville, Indiana), a major supplier of power to Indiana and west-central Ohio, recently reported earnings for the 2008 fiscal year. Vectren operates in two major business segments: the Utility Group, which includes the supply and delivery of natural gas and electricity to the company's customers, and the Nonutility Group, which is involved in marketing, coal mining and energy infrastructure. Net income for the year fell almost 10% from 2007, moving from $143.1 million to $129 million in 2008. The drop in income is primarily from the reduced performance of Vectren's Nonutility Group.
