Capital Spending in the Coal-Fired Segment Down, But Not Out--22 Gigawatts of New Build Units Remain Active in the U.S.

It seems like yesterday that the coal-fired segment of the Power Industry was experiencing a rebirth. This was driven, of course, by resurgence in the development of new coal-fired generating capacity across the United States. In fact, at one point, Industrial Info Resources was tracking nearly 200 new units that were being proposed across the country. This included unit additions at existing power stations, as well as construction of grassroot power plants.
