Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Lowe's Companies Incorporated (NYSE:LOW) (Mooresville, North Carolina), the largest home improvement retailer in the United States after The Home Depot Incorporated (NYSE:HD) (Atlanta, Georgia), is currently looking for a site for a new grassroot regional distribution center to be built in northern Georgia.

Plans are to construct a 1.5 million-square-foot building to support the company's regional retail operations. The new center is expected to cost $80 million to $90 million to construct. A site is anticipated to be selected by the spring of 2010. A general contractor will be selected in May 2010, with construction starting in the late summer. Overall completion is scheduled for the fall of 2011.
