Automotive Supplier, Fisher Corporation Gears Up for Grassroot $21 Million Metal Fabrication Plant in Michigan

Fisher Corporation (Troy, Michigan), builder of seat recliners, arm and head rests and floor latches for the automotive industry, plans to build a world-class metal fabrication plant to make car seat components in Sterling Heights, Michigan (Plant 1061907).
The plant will be located off Highway 53 on Center Street near Mound and Metropolitan Parkway in Macomb County. Construction of the metal fabrication plant will be performed in phases. The new plant will accommodate more than 180,000 square feet of manufacturing space and create 379 jobs.
Construction of the $5.4 Million Phase I (PEC 18001782) expected to begin in December 2003, with completion slated for Summer 2004. Phase I will consist of a 68,320 square foot building and include three stamping presses.
Phase II, which will also consist of 68,000 square feet, is expected to begin construction in May 2005, with completion slated for 2006 (PEC 18001819).
The exact scope and timing of Phase III has yet to be determined.
Ghafari Associates LLC, headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan, was awarded the Architectural and Engineering contract for Phase I of the new plant while Roncelli Incorporated, headquartered in Sterling Heights, Michigan was awarded the General Construction contract for Phase I.
Fisher & Company (Linden, Tennessee) and Fisher Corporation (Troy, Michigan) are Subsidiaries of Fisher Dynamics (St. Clair Shores, Michigan). They are all OEM suppliers to automotive companies such as Ford, General Motors, Diamler-Chrysler, Isuzu, Mazda and Honda and Tier 1's such as Lear, Delphi, Visteon, Magna and JCI. Each company provides products such as seat recliners, armrests, latches, floor latches, headrests, and other safety related products to the automotive industry.
