Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The environmental impact assessment report of SCIEG Hequ Jiuxian Open-Pit Coal Industry Company Limited's (Xinzhou, Shanxi) 3 million-metric-ton Jiuxian open-pit coal mine received approval from the Ministry of Environmental Protection, according to a recent announcement from the Ministry.
The Jiuxian Open-Pit Coal Mine, which is in Xinzhou City in the Shanxi province, is a resource-integrated area in the Hebaopian mining zone of the North Shanxi Coal Base. According to the approval, the coal mine will be exploited in open pit with a designed annual output of 3 million metric tons. Construction of the project will comprise mainly an excavation field; waste stockpile field; coal preparation plant with annual designed processing capacity of 5 million metric tons and associated auxiliary facilities; the coal storage and transportation facilities, such as raw coal and product coal warehouses; the industrial field access roads; environmental protection facilities; and common facilities, including the pit water processing station, sewage processing station, boiler flue gas desulfurization device and dust-removing facilities. Total investment in the project will be $502 million, including $73.3 million for environment protection.
As a subsidiary of Shanxi Coal Import and Export Group Company Limited (SCIEG) (Taiyuan, Shanxi), SCIEG Hequ Jiuxian Open-Pit Coal Industry Company was based on Fanjialiang, Pugou, Yingdimao, Xilaishun, Junchi, Yangshuwan, and Liuyuantou, which were eight smaller mines covering an area of 24.95 square kilometers in Jiuxian Xiang, Hequ County, during the province-wide merging and reorganization of coal resources performed in 2009. In June 2011, the environmental impact assessment for the project kicked off and called for public participation. Presently, the project owner is working together with Beijing Huayu Engineering Company Limited (Beijing), the project designer, for detailed engineering of the project. With the official approval of the environmental impact assessment , construction of the project will kick off shortly.
