EPC Contractor Awarded for LNG Terminal Expansion in Sines, Portugal

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Portuguese company Somague (Linho) has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the expansion of REN Atlántico Terminal de GNL's (Lisbon, Portugal) liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Sines, Portugal. The expansion project includes the addition of a storage tank, as well as general improvements to the existing facilities.

The nominal capacity of the tank to be constructed will be 150,000 cubic meters, increasing the plant's receiving capacity from 6 million to 9 million metric tons of LNG per year. The cost of the project is expected to be about $265 million, and completion is set for 2012

The terminal began commercial operations in January 2004 and is involved in the storage, regasification and delivery of LNG to Portugal's national natural-gas transmission network.
