Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Boiler No. 3, the first unit of Tianji Power Plant's 1,320-megawatt (MW) expansion project, was ignited on November 17, 2013, allowing for the startup of the unit in the next stage, according to a November 20 announcement from Anhui Electric Power Construction No.1 Engineering Company (AEPC1) (Hefei, Anhui), the construction and erection contractor of the unit and a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing).
The unit adopted an ion ignition system. In order to ensure successful ignition of the boiler, AEPC1 completed boiler washing by acid on October 25 and all related preparation work on November 10. The unit passed a quality examination prior to ignition that was conducted by the project owner, CPI Shanghai Electric Power Company Limited (Shanghai), on November 12.
The Tianji Power Plant is the first coal and power complex built in central China's Anhui province, and one of the main power source projects in the program to transmit power from Anhui to eastern China. The expansion project is furnished with two 660-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units manufactured by Shanghai Electric Corporation (Shanghai), together with flue gas desulfurization and denitration devices on the reserved space of the existing plant area.
APEC1 is responsible for the construction of the main powerhouse in Bid 2, as well as the installation of Unit 3 and associated common and auxiliary facilities. Construction of the project kicked off in February 2012. Another unit of the project (Unit 4) is contracted to Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Company (ZTPC) (Hangzhou, Zhejiang). On November 15, 2013, ZTPC completed the erection of the stator for Unit 4.
As reported, the construction and installation contract for Unit 4 and its auxiliary equipment, as well as the desulfurization system, was awarded to Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Company Limited (Hangzhou, Zhejiang). Erection of the first steel beam of the boiler for Unit 4 was completed on November 17, 2012.
