Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Henan Peoples Group Company Limited's (Luoyang, Henan) 700-megawatt (MW), gas-fired Jili cogeneration project received preliminary approval from the Development and Reform Commission of the Henan province on December 31, 2012.
The receiving of the "road slip" paved a firm foundation for the detailed engineering of the project in the next stage and ensured the kick-off of its construction, according to an announcement from Henan Electric Power Design Institute (HEPDI) (Zhengzhou, Henan), the project designer and a subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China (Beijing), on January 9, 2013.
The gas-fired cogeneration project is located on the eastern side of National Highway 207 in the Jili District of Luoyang City, occupying a total area of 11.27 hectares. HEPDI won the design and engineering contract for the project in early 2012. As an important support for Luoyang Petrochemical's Refining Expansion Project, the project will be furnished with two F-class, gas-fired, combined-cycle units by using natural gas transferred by the Anyang-Luoyang Branch of Sinopec's Yulin-Jinan natural gas transmission pipeline. Total investment in the project will be about $450 million.
Luoyang Peoples Jili Thermal Power Company Limited, a subsidiary of Henan Peoples Group, is responsible for the development and future operations of the project. According to the schedule, construction will kick off in the first half of this year, and both units of the project will begin operations in the first half of 2015. Upon completion, the project will be able to supply heat for an area of 4.66 million square kilometers and to supply 218 tons per hour of steam for its industrial users. The project also will replace 51 sets of small-size, coal-fired boilers in its service area, which will further improve the power source structure, as well as efforts toward energy conservation and emission reduction in the Henan grid.
