Husky Energy to Commerce Construction of Asphalt Terminal and Emulsion-Blending Plant in Manitoba
The facility would consist of an office & emulsion blending building, truck-loading area, storage tanks, and a rail spur.
Released Monday, May 13, 2002
Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Inc.; Houston, Texas). Husky Energy (Calgary, Alberta) will soon commerce construction on a $5 million dollar asphalt/cement terminal and emulsion-blending plant in Springfield, Manitoba. The facility will be owned and operated by Husky Energy's subsidiary Husky Oil Operations Limited and will begin construction in May 2002. Husky Energy will perform engineering, procurement, and construction services for the new plant that should be operational in late 2002.
The facility would consist of an office & emulsion blending building, truck-loading area, storage tanks, and a rail spur. The plant will store and distribute asphalt cement from heated storage tanks. About 5% of the stored asphalt would be used in the emulsion-blending plant by blending it with a water-based soap solution and fuel oil to create a high-quality product. Customers in the road construction and repair industry will be the main purchasers of the asphalt emulsion product.
