Reuters: Cheniere Setting Up China Office
Cheniere is setting up an office in Beijing to secure long-term supply deals with Chinese buyers, according to sources quoted by Reuters. Cheniere recently raised its earnings guidance for 2017 amid growing LNG exports. As of July, LNG from Cheniere's Sabine Pass terminal in Cameron, Louisiana, has reached 24 of the 40 LNG-importing countries around the world. (Plant: 3007400)

Citgo Plans October Maintenance on Corpus Christi Refinery Unit
Citgo has scheduled 30 days of planned maintenance in early October on the 20,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Platformer CCR on the East Side of its 195,000-BBL/d Corpus Christi refining complex in Texas. Industrial Info is tracking $30 million I project activity at the refinery, including a $10 million fluid catalytic cracker (FCCU 1) upgrade in 2018. Citgo is 51% owned by PDV America, an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA). As such, the Corpus Christi refinery gets crude oil from Venezuela, and Corpus Christi officials are worried the political conflict in that country could impact the refinery. (Plant: 1012847)

Calumet Sells Wisconsin Refinery to Husky Energy
Calumet Specialty Products Partners is selling its 45,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) refinery in Superior, Wisconsin, to Husky Energy for $435 million in cash. According to sources familiar with plant operations, the sale is expected to be completed by the end of the fourth quarter this year. The addition of the Superior refinery will increase Husky's total downstream capacity to about 395,000 barrels per day. The transaction includes the acquisition of the refinery's associated logistics, including two asphalt terminals, 3.6 million barrels of crude and product storage and a fuels and asphalt marketing business. Separately, a 40-day, plant-wide maintenance turnaround scheduled for late April 2018 remains on schedule. (Plant: 1012302)
