Jotun Constructs Solvent-Based Paints Plant in Brazil

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Cordoba, Argentina)--Paints and powder coatings producer Jotun (Sandefjord, Norway), through its Brazilian office in Sao Goncalo, Rio de Janeiro, is constructing its first processing plant in Latin America. The plant will produce solvent-based paints, primarily for the naval market.

The new facility, which will be built on a 120,000-square-meter site in Itaorai, Rio de Janeiro, will have a production capacity of 10 million liters per year when it is completed in mid-2014. It is expected to have a total investment value of $29.3 million ($69 million in Brazilian Reals), which has been awarded by the Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Economico e Social (BNDES) (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).
