Kinder Morgan in Planning Phase to Construct New Refined Product Storage Tanks in California

Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP (Houston Texas) is planning a major expansion to its Carson Petroleum Terminal in Carson, California. Kinder Morgan intends to construct eighteen 80,000 barrel above ground storage tanks to increase its capacity to store refined petroleum products.
Kinder Morgan will select a general contractor in the fourth quarter of 2004 and hopes to start construction on the Carson Terminal development in late 2004 or early 2005, with a targeted completion date in 2006.
Kinder Morgan also just began construction on a 70-mile refined products pipeline in California and is in the early planning phase to construct 240 miles of 16" and 12" diameter refined products pipeline looping from Fort Bliss near El Paso, Texas then it will transverse New Mexico and terminate in the Phoenix area in Arizona. Construction on the new looping pipeline is expected to begin in the summer of 2005.
