Maryland's Perryman Station Gets New Unit from PW Power Systems, Adds 120 Megawatts
Under the direction of Exelon Corporation, the Perryman Peaking Station has placed an order with PW Power Systems Incorporated for a 120-megawatt , simple-cycle FT4000 SWIFTPAC power generation unit.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Under the direction of Exelon Corporation (NYSE:EXC) (Chicago, Illinois), the Perryman Peaking Station, located in Perryman, Maryland, has placed an order with PW Power Systems Incorporated (PWPS) for a 120-megawatt (MW), simple-cycle FT4000 SWIFTPAC power generation unit.
The FT4000 SWIFTPAC is a product manufactured by PW Power Systems, a group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Limited (MHI). Pratt & Whitney Power Systems was purchased by MHI earlier this year and will use the name PW Power Systems.
This unit will be installed at the Perryman Peaking Station and increase the nameplate capacity output to nearly 500 MW. The current facility has five combustion turbines that provide peaking service to the Maryland community. The units have fast startup and provide quick dispatchable electricity to the grid. With the new addition, Exelon will a more reliable and balanced stability to the grid.
PW Power Systems will provide the engineering, procurement and construction services for the installation of the FT4000 SWIFTPAC. Construction is expected to begin around the summer of 2014. The unit is expected to start commercial operations before the end of 2015.
