Stuart Generating Station, which is located in Aberdeen, Ohio, shut down its 610-megawatt (MW) Unit 3 on Monday, June 28, due to a tube leak in the boiler's cyclone. The station is operated by Dayton Power & Light (Dayton, Ohio), which owns 35% of the station's four units. Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK) (Charlotte, North Carolina) owns 39%, and AES Corporation (NYSE:AES) (Arlington, Virginia) owns 26%.

Officials are investigating and said that repairs are under way. Officials hope to return the unit to service by Thursday, July 2, if there are no delays.

The coal-fired plant has four generating units and a total generating capacity of 2,440 megawatts when at full load. Units 1, 2 and 4 are online and will continue to operate at full capacity; each unit has a 610-MW capacity.
