Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--J.M. Stuart Generating Station, which is located in Aberdeen, Ohio, shut down units 1 and 3 for maintenance repairs to the units' boilers. The station is operated by Dayton Power & Light (Dayton, Ohio), which owns 35% of the station's four units. Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK) (Charlotte, North Carolina) owns 39%, and AES Corporation (NYSE:AES) (Arlington, Virginia) owns 26%.

Officials said that they shut down Unit 1 on Friday to repair a boiler tube leak, and Unit 3 on Saturday because of a forced draft fan issue. Plant officials were in the progress of restarting Unit 1 on Monday morning, although Unit 3 remains offline for repairs.

Sources said that they still are trying to determine why the fan failed, but repairs are ongoing. Officials expect Unit 3 to return to service on Tuesday, July 21, if there are no delays.

The coal-fired plant has four generating units and a total capacity of 2,440 MW when at full load. Units 2 and 4 are online and will continue to operate at full capacity.
