Toyo Tire North America Continues Site Preparation for $270 Million Expansion at Georgia Plant

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Toyo Tire North America (White, Georgia) is currently under way with site preparation for a third expansion of its White, Georgia, passenger and light truck/SUV tire plant, which has an estimated total investment value of $270 million.

Extensive grading and site work continues for an 820,000-square-foot addition to be constructed at the existing 900,000-square-foot plant. The expansion will allow the company to nearly double the size of the existing plant with increased space and machinery and to increase current plant capacity from 2 million units per year to 5.2 million units per year by 2011. Site preparation began around the end of August and overall completion is slated for 2011. Once the expansion is complete, approximately 400 new jobs will be created, adding to the existing 450 people currently employed at the plant.
