Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) will be hosting our North American Market Outlook and Networking Event on May 7 at The Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C. Topics will include the trends and market situations driving more than $50 billion in planned project starts in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast market regions over the 12 months from May 2014 through April 2015.
While spending is strong among most industrial sectors, the highest total investment value, as usual, comes from the Power Industry. Currently, the 10 highest-value Power projects being tracked by Industrial Info in these regions represent more than $8 billion in planned spending and are all natural gas-fired power projects--both grassroot construction and addition and expansion projects. Two of the more high-profile of these projects are Tenaska Incorporated's (Omaha, Nebraska) plans to begin construction on two 950-megawatt grassroot natural gas-fired stations in Pennsylvania, each of which carries a total investment value of approximately $1.1 billion. Both projects are planned to kick off later this year.
The Industrial Manufacturing Industry and Oil & Gas Production Industry also show quite high planned spending over the next 12 months. Much of the Industrial Manufacturing spending comes from planned light rail projects in the Baltimore area.
Dominion Resources Incorporated's (NYSE:D) (Richmond, Virginia) Cove Point liquefied natural gas plant in Maryland is one of the highest-priced projects planned to kick off in the area in the next 12 months. This project and a planned gas-to-liquids project in West Virginia account for about $6 billion in planned Oil & Gas Production spending in the area.
