VIFAN USA in $72 Million Expansion of Tennessee Plant to Increase Capacity of Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene

The project will provide additional building space and production equipment to increase biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) capacity due to increased sales of the company's thin, durable film that is used to wrap food and make packaging tape.

Site preparation began in February 2008 with building construction beginning in April 2008 on two buildings totaling 130,000 square feet at the 350,000-square-foot plant. A second production line and metalizing system will add 4,500 tons per month of BOPP film capacity, which currently totals about 3,000 tons per month. Overall completion is slated for January 2009. Approximately 55 new jobs will be created, adding to the 124 jobs the company has at its Morristown facility, which began operations in 1998.

Blaine Construction Corporation and Shoffner, Mechanical, Industrial & Service Company Incorporated, both located in Knoxville, Tennessee, were selected to provide engineering, construction and mechanical services for the expansion.
