Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Construction recently began on the 200-megawatt (MW) Courtenay windfarm in Stutsman County, North Dakota, with completion expected in first-quarter 2016. The project, which has a total investment value of $350 million, is owned by Xcel Energy Incorporated (NYSE:XEL) (Minneapolis, Minnesota).
The windfarm will utilize 125 General Electric (NYSE:GE) turbines. Wanzek Construction (West Fargo, North Dakota) was selected as the general contractor for the project and will be responsible for hiring subcontractors.
The windfarm will generate enough power for as many as 90,000 homes annually. The completed facility will support 15 full-time jobs.
