Toyota Resumes Construction on Grassroot Mississippi Assembly Plant
SUGAR LAND--June 24, 2010--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:TM) (Tokyo, Japan) and subsidiary Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America (Torrance, California) ended 2009 on the highest of notes as the No. 1 automaker in the world. It had taken Toyota decades to wrestle the title away from General Motors Corporation (Detroit, Michigan) and was a hard-won victory. However, all of that hard work was almost for naught when Toyota faced its first major scandal a few months later and saw its position change from being in firm control to teetering on the brink of dramatic and rapid collapse. Toyota has been working non-stop on all fronts to regain all that was lost and now has taken the next step in the process by restarting construction on its grassroot assembly plant in Blue Springs, Mississippi.
