Industrial Manufacturing Industry Expects to Create More than 24,800 U.S. Jobs in 2011

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Hundreds of thousands of jobs were lost in the U.S. Industrial Manufacturing Industry during the recession that wreaked havoc across the country during the past two years. Due to the economic uncertainty caused by the recession, companies were forced to take a hard look at their operations, which resulted in thousands of plant closures and staffing cutbacks. For the most part, the majority of the industry's cuts are finished, and companies are beginning to cautiously look at expanding operations again. As a result, the Industrial Manufacturing Industry has 111 plants that are either in the planning or construction stages of development and are scheduled to begin production operations in 2011, which will lead to more than 24,800 jobs being created across the U.S. during the year.

The largest concentration of new jobs is expected to occur in the Southeast region of the country, as 24 new plants are scheduled to begin operations in the region in 2011, which will result in 7,400 jobs being created. The Great Lakes region, one of the hardest hit by the recession, will garner more than 6,100 new jobs during the year, as 26 plants become operational. The West Coast region, Southwest region and the Midwest region round out the top five regions, with an additional 3,700, 2,200 and 2,000 jobs created, respectively.

A closer look at where these jobs will be created shows that the states of Mississippi and Tennessee each will be home to more than 2,700 new jobs during 2011, as a total of 12 new plants will become operational between the two states. The state of California will be right on their heels with 11 plants beginning operations, creating 2,600 jobs, while the states of Indiana, with five new plants and 2,000 new jobs, and Michigan, with six new plants and 1,400 new jobs, also will see significant job growth.

As the coming year progresses, we can expect job creation to increase. Companies have finally begun to loosen their respective purse strings and add jobs again, albeit slowly and on a limited basis. Many of those who lost their jobs during the toughest parts of the recession are being called back to fill positions, as orders are gradually increasing and production must increase along with it.

2011 has a chance to be a great year for job recovery, even though the national jobless rate likely will remain higher than most would like. If the overall economic situation continues to improve monthly, companies should be more willing to add additional jobs as the country works its way through 2011. While it will certainly take a number of years to fully recover from the recession, 2011 is likely to be a good first step on the way to total recovery for the U.S.
