United Arab Emirates and South Korea to Develop 1,000-Megawatt Thermal Power Plant in Pakistan

BANGALORE, INDIA--March 19, 2009--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In a recent meeting, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, Pakistan; an eight-member delegation of the Bin Daen Group (Dubai, United Arab Emirates); and officials of South Korea's state-run Petroleum Development Corporation (PEDCO) (Gyeonggi-do) discussed development details of the Thar Coal project. It has been decided that PEDCO would start drilling and boring work on blocks 4 and 8 of the Thar coalfields and continue operations for three years. After that, the firm would set up power generation facilities. The Thar coal reserves would be used in a $3 billion, 1,000-megawatt mine-mound thermal power plant.
