India's GAIL is planning major investments in clean energy for captive use. The company already has installed India's second largest solar PV rooftop, totaling 5.76 megawatts (MW), at the country's largest natural gas-based petrochemical complex at Pata, for captive use. The company now is planning to expand the capacity by adding a further 5.76 MW, which is expected to get commissioned by mid-2021. The captive solar power initiative of GAIL will reduce carbon emissions by 6,300 tonnes per annum and help India achieve its climate goals.
