Sustainable Aviation Fuel Sees First Transatlantic Flights

December 4, 2023--Written by Paul Wiseman for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--After extensive testing of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by providers bp aviation and Virent (Madison, Wisconsin), Virgin Atlantic (Crawley, England) used the fuel to power a 787's flight from London Heathrow to JFK International Airport in New York on November 28, to great fanfare from the airline and from the U.K. government. The latter's £1 million (US$1.26 million) funding for green fuel research helped push the research along.
