Archer Daniels Midland Completes Expansion at Nebraska Ethanol Plant

Over the weekend, ADM held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of the multimillion-dollar project.

With the additional capacity, the Columbus site can produce more than 400 million gallons annually. The expansion also included a 75-megawatt coal-fired cogeneration power plant. The facility now produces half of the electricity required to run the complex and has increased steam-generating capacity for steam-driven production equipment.

The expansion was handled by ICM Incorporated (Colwich, Kansas) and required more than 1,400 contractors on-site for the duration of the project. The addition also created an additional 150 jobs for the complex, which is ADM's largest facility after its headquarters.
