Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)-- ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) (Houston, Texas) is planning to invest approximately $85 million to expand natural gas processing capacity at the San Juan Basin plant near Bloomfield, New Mexico. The plant's current configuration is a dual 250 million-cubic-foot-per-day (mmcfd) cryogenic train that can process 500 mmcfd of natural gas. The plant has an NGL production capacity of approximately 50,000 barrels per day (BBL/d), which is the third largest in the U.S. at present.
ConocoPhillips expects to begin construction on the cryogenic train in early 2009 with a targeted in service date for the additional capacity some time in mid-2010. The new train will most likely be tied into the existing plant during the plant's annual maintenance turnaround, which historically occurs in May of each year.
