Grupo Ibereolica Moves Forward with 600-MW Cabo Leones Wind Complex in Chile, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Spanish renewable energy developer Grupo Ibereolica Renovables SL has started preliminary construction work on the second phase of the Cabo Leones III Windfarm in the northern region of Atacama in Chile. The project includes the installation of 22 five-megawatt (MW) Siemens Gamesa SG-145-5 wind turbine generator sets that will add 110 MW to the 78-MW grassroot phase (under construction), with 22 3.55-MW Siemens Gamesa SG-132-3.5 wind turbine generator sets. Once both phases become operational (at the end of this year for the grassroot phase and early 2022 for the expansion phase), they will add 188 MW of renewable energy to the National Grid.
