As Hurricane Lane moves through the Hawaiian Islands, there have been reports of more than 13,000 customers without power, yet power plants for the most part continue to operate. Hawaii still relies heavily on oil as a fuel to power its existing fleet. There are concerns that this rare, slow-moving storm may eventually curtail fuel deliveries to these plants.
