The Balkans Invest in Power Projects, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Attachment: Balkans

The countries that make up what was Yugoslavia are continuously investing in their power facilities. What in the past would be mostly invested in coal-fired power generation is now distributed across hydro, wind and coal.

Industrial Info is tracking $40 billion in potential power-related spending in the region, with $13.5 billion earmarked for hydro projects, $10.2 billion for coal-fired facilities and $8.7 billion for wind. Click here for the list of projects.

The highest spending is in Bosnia-Hercegovina ($12.5 billion), followed by Serbia ($9 billion).

More investment is expected on renewable energy, especially windfarms, as at the moment the region has only 23 operational windfarms.
