US Steel to Close Iron and Steel Production at Great Lakes Steel, an Industrial Info Market Brief

US Steel plans to close iron and steel production at Great Lakes Steel in Ecorse, Michigan, by April 2020. The slab rolling mill will operate until the end of 2020. Iron and steel making includes a 4,000-ton-per-day blast furnace and two basic oxygen furnaces. The mill has the capacity to produce 3.5 million tons of steel per year.
