China's Power Consumption Rises 1.3% in First Half of 2015
Power consumption in China grew 1.3% during the first half of 2015.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--China's power consumption grew 1.3 % during the first half of 2015 from the same period in 2014, according to a new report by the China Electricity Council. This growth rate compares with 5.4% in the first half of 2014.
Overall consumption reached 2.66 trillion kilowatt-hours (kWh) during the first six months of the year. Primary-sector industry (agriculture, forestry, fishing, mining, oil and gas production) power consumption totaled 44.1 billion kWh, an increase of 0.9%. Secondary-sector industry (manufactured goods) consumption totaled 1.92 trillion kWh, a drop of 0.5%; the tertiary sector (services) consumed 339.7 billion kWh, an increase of 8.1%; and urban and township residential consumption totaled 354.5 billion kWh, an increase of 4.8%.
New installed power capacity totaled 43.38 gigawatts (GW), including 5.06 GW in hydropower and 23.43 GW in thermal power.
The installed capacity of power equipment in plants with capacity more than 6 megawatts (MW) reached 1,359.51 GW, an increase of 8.7%. Installed hydropower capacity reached 268.13 GW, an increase of 5.7%; thermal power reached 935.01 GW, an increase of 6.4%; nuclear power reached 22.14 GW, an increase of 24.5%; and wind power reached 104.91 GW, an increase of 26.8%.
China's investment in power generation construction totaled $21.3 billion in the first half of the year, an increase of 7.6%. This included a hydropower infrastructure investment of $4.45 billion, a drop of 17.2%; thermal power reached $6.53 billion, an increase of 14.1%; nuclear power totaled $3.27 billion, a drop of 14.9%; and wind power reached $6.4 billion, an increase of 43.7%. Spending in hydropower, nuclear power and wind power accounted for 69.4% of the total investment in power generation. In the first half of 2015, China invested $26.39 billion in grid construction, a drop of 0.8%.
Average power plant utilization in the first half of the year was 1,936 hours, a drop of 151 hours. Hydropower equipment utilization averaged 1,512 hours, an increase of 82 hours; and thermal power equipment usage averaged 2,158 hours, a drop of 217 hours.
