Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Tianjin Electric Power Construction Company Limited (TEPC) (Tianjin) completed the construction of the steam turbine for the first unit (Unit 3) of Shishi Hongshan Thermal Power Plant's 2,000 megawatt (MW), coal-fired expansion project on January 14, 2014.
TEPC, a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), began the procedure on January 12 and completed it on January 14, after 48 hours of continuous work. The single-shaft, ultra-supercritical condensing steam turbine, with single intermediate reheat, was manufactured by Dongfang Turbine Company Limited (Deyang, Sichuan), a subsidiary of Dongfang Electric Corporation (Chengdu, Sichuan). The steam turbine comprises four cylinders, including one high-pressure (HP) cylinder, one middle-pressure (MP) cylinder and two low-pressure (LP) cylinders.
The Shishi Hongshan Thermal Power Plant is located in Hongshan Town, Shishi City, which is about 200 kilometers (124 miles) to Fuzhou, the capital city of eastern China's Fujian province. The power plant originally was invested by Fujian Energy Group Company Limited (Fuzhou, Fujian), with two 600-MW, supercritical cogeneration units that were commissioned in 2011.
In August 2012, China Shenhua Energy Company Limited (Beijing) signed an agreement with Fujian Energy Group Shenhua to set up Shenhua Funeng Company Limited (Fuzhou, Fujian), a joint venture company, to construct two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units, together with flue-gas desulfurization and nitrogen-oxide control devices in Phase II. The joint venture also would handle the future expansion of the power plant.
Site preparation for the Phase II expansion kicked off in October 2011. Construction of the main powerhouse steel beam kicked off in December 2012. According to the schedule, both units of the project will begin operations in 2014.
