Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In Louisiana's New Orleans Parish, Industrial Info is tracking five projects worth a total of $94.49 million that are either finishing or commencing construction during the remainder of the year. The Industrial Manufacturing Industry claims the lion share of project spending in "The Big Easy," due to a pair of transportation projects.
Kickoffs for Second-Half 2017
The Port of New Orleans is planning $2.5 million in improvements for its Mississippi River intermodal rail yard extension. As part of the second-phase project, the Port of New Orleans will construct a railroad track, concrete paving, asphalt paving and concrete rail-crossing panels. It also will perform utility service improvements. The project will kick off this month, with completion expected in December 2018. AECOM (NYSE:ACM) (Los Angeles, California) is performing design-engineering services and Barriere Construction Company LLC (Harvey, Louisiana) is the general contractor. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
New Orleans Regional Transit Authority is planning a $62 million streetcar line extension and bus/terminal addition at the Cemeteries Transit Center. The Authority will extend the streetcar line by 0.15 miles to Canal Boulevard, including a new terminus, streetcar and bus shelters. It will replace one stop sign with a traffic light signal, and install another traffic light. Construction is expected to begin next month. Infinity Engineering Consultants LLC (New Orleans) is performing design-engineering services. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Completions for Second-Half 2017
The Power Industry is second only to Industrial Manufacturing in kickoff and completion spending. Construction is expected to wrap up on the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans' $16 million, 37-megawatt (MW) Unit 3 refurbishment. The project includes refurbishment of a 16-MW Westinghouse steam turbine generator, as well as retubing and refurbishment of six watertube boilers to improve performance and reliability. The project kicked off in June 2016. Plant N Power Incorporated (Gonzales, Louisiana) is serving as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Food & Beverage is at the bottom of the barrel in the Parish's overall project spending. Miel Brewery & Taproom began construction last month on a $2 million craft brewery conversion. The company is performing structural modifications and upgrades at its 21,000-square-foot former warehouse. The facility, which will include a taproom, will produce craft beer products. Completion is expected by this November. Concordia LLC (New Orleans) is serving as the architect and NFT Group LLC (New Orleans) as the general contractor.
