Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- Privately held POET Biorefining, formally Broin & Associates (Sioux Falls, South Dakota), is planning a ground breaking event today to commemorate the start of construction on yet another fuel ethanol plant in the companys growing portfolio of ethanol production. The speaking portion of event will start at 1:00 P.M. (EST) and will be held at the Roppe Corporation Training Center located at 1616 North County Line Street in Fostoria. Attendees will then board shuttle buses to the plant site for the silver shovel ceremony.
POET Biorefining Fostoria will be a nameplate 65 million gallon per year plant that will process some 21 million bushels of Ohio corn annually into the fuel. The plant will also generate 178,000 tons of distillers dried grains, a by-product of ethanol production.
The plant will be built by the companys in house construction arm POET Design & Construction, and once completed, the plant will be run by POET Plant Management. Construction is expected to take sixteen months to complete and the plant is scheduled to go online in late 2008, just in time for the new corn harvest. Cost estimates to build the plant are in the $130 million range.
The plant is the companys third plant to start construction in the state of Ohio. POET Biorefining Leipsic began construction in November 2006 and will have the same 65 million capacity as the Fostoria plant and is scheduled to go online later this year.
The company is also building a 65 million gallon per year plant in Marion, POET Biorefining Marion, that is expected to be completed in the Fall 2008.
POET, the largest dry mill ethanol producer in the United States, is an established leader in the bio-refining industry through project development, design and construction, research and development, plant management, and marketing. Formerly known as Broin, the 20-year old company currently operates 20 production facilities in the United States while marketing more than one billion gallons of ethanol annually.
